Success Story: Brain Organoids

From 2D to 3D Brain Models

Project needs: They work with preclinical in vitro models from iPSC to overlook age-related rates. The idea is to incorporate age characteristics into 3D in vivo models to later on test therapeutic agents.

Our solution:  Organoids in the Clinostar for at least 1 month bigger and with more activity.

They work with preclinical in vitro models from iPSC to overlook age-related rates. The idea is to incorporate age characteristics into 3D in vivo models to later test therapeutic agents.

The main goal of the lab is to evaluate age-related modifications to the tissue microenvironment (alteration of density of ECM, crosslink, biochemical modifications).

Biological response characterization with the Clinostar

Their samples are iPSC-derived organoids.

Sedimentation velocity depends on the density, viscosity, and size of organoids. They are studying this free fall movement that the ClinoStar performs to study the long-term effect of biological response to that and how it affects the maturation of organoids.

Static vs Dynamic conditions: Organoid Growth

Organoids in the Clinostar for at least 1 month. The switch from static culture to dynamic culture enables:

  • To reach much bigger sizes: up to 8mm in diameter
  • The necrotic core of the brain organoids is significantly smaller
  • More mature and higher activity organoids.
