DNA / RNA Detection

HDGreen™ Plus Dye by Intas

A non-toxic fluorescent dye for the detection of DNA / RNA in agarose gels. When Intra HDGreen™ Plus is excited by UV or blue LED light, the stained DNA bands are optimal visible in gel documentation systems.

The Intas HDGreen™ Plus DNA Dye is ahead of other competitor products, as the dye achieved significantly better results in tests than the already very successful Intas HDGreen™ DNA Dye.

Mutagenicity tests are performed by an independent laboratory, and classified Intas HDGreen™ Plus as non-mutagenic.

Ruby Red Stain – fluorescent stain for protein detection in gels

Ruby Red Stain is a ready-to-use kit for quick and sensitive protein staining in polyacrylamide gels. It makes it possible to nicely visualize and quantify protein with the same sensitivity as silver staining without its drawbacks.  The kit also includes fixing and destaining solutions.

Green Stain – fluorescent stain for nucleic acid detection in gels

Green Stain is a 1000X (in DMSO) fluorescent dye which is easy-to-use for nucleic acid detection in electrophoretic gels. It can be used in pre-electrophoresis gel staining, sample pre-staining as well as in post-electrophoresis gel staining.

Western blotting: Cyanagen and Advansta



WESTAR is a product line for enhanced chemiluminescence (ECL) substrates for Western blotting applications. ECL is commonly used for Western blotting detection since it is an easy method with great sensitivity. The new WESTAR HYPERNOVA is the brightest HRP (Horseradish Peroxidase) substrate available. The signal intensity is extremely high and has a stable light output which makes it suitable for detecting trace protein levels. A low background results in an extremely high signal-to-noise ratio.

High sensitivity of WESTAR HYPERNOVA compared to other substrates (GEHC-Amersham ECL Select & SuperSignal™ West Femto-Thermo Scientific™).

  1. Detection of purified IκBα with WESTAR HYPERNOVA and two other substrates (1st Ab: Rabbit anti-IκBα, 1:1000, followed by 2nd Ab: Goat anti-rabbit, 1:500.000). A 1.5-fold dilution series of purified IκBα (from 667 pg to 5 pg) was imaged simultaneously with both substrates for 10 seconds with ImageQuant™ LAS 4000 (GE Healthcare).
  2. Signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) analysis for all substrates. The enlarged inset shows the increased sensitivity of WESTAR SUPERNOVA substrate. LOD = 5 pg compared to LOD = 39 pg, SuperSignal™ West Femto (LOD = limit of detection).

Advansta Western blotting substrates

WesternBright MCF
Advansta’s WesternBright multi-colour fluorescent (MCF) Western blotting kit enables visualisation of two proteins at once, and thereby increasing the quality and quantity of information that can be gained from a single blot. Imaging a control protein alongside a protein of interest is possible with this kit. Just like imaging phosphorylated and unphosphorylated isoforms of a protein simultaneously. The fluorescent dyes provided with WesternBright MCF outperform Cy™ dyes and allow detection of low pg of protein. The WesternBright protocol saves time and money since there is no need for disposable film, and the blot can be imaged immediately, without drying. 

Detection of phosphorylated and unphosphorylated isoforms of a protein simultaneously.

 EGFR and phospho-EGFR can be imaged simultaneously using WesternBright MCF Western blotting kit. Chemiluminescence detection of the same experiment would require stripping and reprobing of the blot which can result into more errors and thereby influencing the outcome. A431 cell lysates (lane1) and A431 cells treated with EGF (lane 2) were blotted. EGFR is detected in green (b) and phospho-EGFR in red (c). An overlay picture is seen in (a). WesternBright ECL spray

WesternBright ECL spray is optimized for chemiluminescent Western blots imaged using film. The same components as Advansta’s WesternBright ECL link to webshop, but put together in one easy spray which makes measuring or mixing unnecessary. Simply spray onto the blot and you are ready to image. 
WesternBright ECL is a very strong substrate which allows you to use up to 10x less antibody compared to other substrates. Due to the fewer steps needed, less pipettes, tips and tubes are used resulting in additional savings and reduced waste.

STAR FLUOR Secondary Antibodies by Cyanagen

STAR FLUOR secondary antibodies are secondary antibodies of high quality. They are designed for use in fluorescent immunoassays such as flow cytometry, cell imaging and fluorescent Western blotting. 
Detection of low protein amounts is possible due to the superior brightness of the antibodies where high signal-to-noise ratio is guaranteed.

HTRF (Homogenous Time Resolved Fluorescence) QuickAllAssay by BioNobile 

BioNobile’s QuickAllAssay™ kit covers all reagents needed for labelling proteins with europium chelate. The kit can be used for both homogenous and enhanced separation-based time-resolved fluorescence (TRF) assays.

TR-FRET (Time-Resolved Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer)
TR-FRET includes two fluorophore labels; Eu chelate donor and a fluorescent acceptor, in close proximity of each other. TR-FRET uses the long decay Eu donor to improve the FRET energy transfer. The acceptor is activated to emit light; usually between 570 – 740 nm. 

Separation-based TReF (Time-Resolved enhanced Fluorescence assays)
A coated plate or another solid phase is needed to bind and separate one component of the assay. The bound Eu-complex fluorescence is measured after a dissociative enhancement. A second chelating reagent is added to recapture all Eu and reform a new highly fluorescent chelate. 

qFM (Fluorescence Modulation) TRF
This assay only needs one labelled component, usually a Eu-chelate attached to a ligand. Both end point as well as kinetic assays can be measured with this technique. A proprietary assay buffer modulates any free chelate fluorescence enabling direct measurement of only the bound ligand-receptor or ligand-cell complex.
